The Great Cake Adventure

Well

I've decided to have a bit of a practise so I've found some cute cakes I can make with a dome cake. The plan, make the cake, ice it, rip off the icing and start again, and again, and again.....
We'll just have to see how it goes.... watch this space.

Stage ONE: the plain cake

Movember Cupcakes

I've a busy week coming up this week. We are doing another fundraising cupcake day at the pharmacy on Wenesday so 6 dozen cupcakes to make on Tuesday night... I might make 7 always run out by the end of the day. This time for Prostate Cancer.... so I guess some of them had better have moustaches for Movember.
Flavours decided so far:
Toffee apple with caramel icing
Pumpkin and chocolate wheat free with chocolate icing (saving one for Nicole)
Maple and Peacan becuse they were so delicious last time
Vanilla and Raspberry with Merangue buttercream icing
and one more to be decided later

p.s Couldn't really have a post with
no cupcake picture... so this is
one of a vanilla and raspebrry
flower cupcake with a little
wee butterfly on top.

NICOLE

I really like making cakes for friends, then you get to see their reaction (as well as eat some). I have decided the middle mini sized cake is my favourite, the really small mini ones (about 8cm wide) are good for just one person, but this size which is about 15cm wide is big enough to share .... and maybe small enough to scoff the lot if you felt like it.

This cake is a wheat free cake that just happens to be dairy free and have vegtables in it so it's practically good for you. It was a Lemon Birthday Cake from a great cook book called 'Red Velvet and Chocolate Heartache' by Harry Eastwood. The design is based on one I found on-line at Inspired by Michelle cake designs, which she had made for a friend called... Nicole.

I loved the colours and the great pink flower on top.

Happy Birthday Nicole

Iggle Piggle Number 2

Well my first shaped cake covered in sugar icing. This was a first birthday cake for Zachary. The remit was a baby blue number one with an iggle piggle on it.... I think it turned out quite well in the end, the stars and spots turned out to be a handy way to cover icing mishaps.... like for where I put my finger through it. The cake was a vanilla sponge cake with raspberry jam and vanilla icing in the middle. Yum.

Thought I should put some past cupcake endevours up too....
This was a trial lion and bear... they are vanilla cupcakes with chocolate icing and sugarpaste faces.

MEEEOW.

No cakes for a while, but I did get a lovely shiney red box to put all my cake things in so they are not all over the table, a good find thanks Alex.
but now I do have two new cakes to make... another Iggle Piggle cake this time for a first birthday and a belated mini birthday cake, I have just made all the decorations for them both... my iggle piggle looks a bit scary and I practised my modelling and made a meow.
