MOO MOO

Well it's been a while...
This is MooMoo, a cake to look like the birthday girl's favourite toy.
It was a buttermilk sponge with jam and vanilla icing covered in vanilla sugarpaste with sugar paste daisies for decoration.

My Stage Debut.....

A four tier wedding cake for a production of 'The Wedding Singer'.
Align Centre

This was a lot of fun, as it's for stage it is made of 'fake' cake in other words blocks of cake shaped polystyrene which I covered in white sugar paste icing and decorated with purple lilies, ribbon and royal icing detail on alternate layers to make it a bit more interesting.
Here's hoping it survives all the shows without too much damage!

Wedding Cake

Well here it is folks.... Andrew and Jane Carr-Smith's Wedding Cake

The details: Scrumptious Fruitcake made by the Bride's Granny. Covered in 4 layers of royal icing (only layer 4 did I discover my smoother for the sides was not flat, the last layer was super easy) with hand made and coloured to match wedding scheme hydrangeas and roses. Wired posey on top and single flowers on the sides.

Sponge Bob and Patrick

A Sponge Bob cake for Joshua who is turning 5.
The Brief: Sponge Bob or a Wrestler cake, but only Sponge Bob if he is with Patrick and no sugarpaste figures sitting on a cake... all CAKE please.

Any cake you need to watch cartoons for (strictly for "research purposes" of course) is a good cake to make!
I think it turned out rather well. I particularly like my sand icing (royal icing mixed with demerara sugar for those wanting to know).
The sign also ended up on a chocolate post in the end, not just on the sand.
We will just have to wait to find out if the birthday boy liked it.

All I want for my birthday is SHOES

"All I want for my birthday is SHOES"

This is a dark chocolate mud cake with white chocolate mud cake in alternate layers with white and dark chocolate buttercream sandwiching them together. Decorated with a sugar shoe!
The shoe took some work... this is shoe number 3 I think - the first couple decided to break in half. Luckily I found a great template and video on YouTube that saved the day. Unfortunately I didn't have time to make shoe number 4 as now I know how to get it perfect... oh well next time (anyone want a shoe cake?)

The cake was for my friend Jane to take as a birthday present for her friend, so it was organised via the internet from Dubai and then she came and collected it and had to drive it to the party in all that snow we had before christmas... very slowly.

Hope it was as delicious as all the scraps we had left at home.
